the revolving-door ledger
From the regulator's chair to the board's
Documented post-office moves of financial regulators into the boards of the entities they regulated — and the bodies that set their industry's codes. Every row is an appointment order, an exchange filing or a credible press record. Where an appointment required the former employer's approval, that fact is stated.
U. K. Sinha (Upendra Kumar Sinha)
Former office: Chairman (2011–2017)
| Date | Move | On the record | Why the person paying cares |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 Jun 2023 | Independent Director, Max Healthcare Institute Ltd Company board |
record | Listed-healthcare board seat; part of the same post-SEBI portfolio that includes regulated mutual-fund and listed-entity roles. |
| 27 Mar 2023 | Independent Director and non-executive Chairperson (two years from 27 Mar 2023), NDTV Ltd Company board |
record | Board seat in a listed media group — disclosure filings are the public record; tracked here because every door move for a regulator head belongs in one ledger. |
| 13 Jan 2023 | Independent Director and board Chairman, Nippon Life India Asset Management Ltd Company board |
record | The former markets regulator now chairs the board of a mutual-fund house SEBI regulates directly. |

record | The alliance that writes account-aggregator standards is now chaired by an ex-RBI deputy governor — a rule-borrower led by a rule-writer; track both layers together. |
| 03 Sep 2025 | Non-executive (part-time) Chairman, term 20 Sep 2025 – 13 May 2027, Yes Bank Ltd RBI approval letter dated 1 Sep 2025 |
record | Successive terms on a regulated bank's board long after leaving the regulator — with the approval of the regulator itself; the appointment shows why cooling-off disclosure rules matter for banking supervision. |
| 01 Nov 2019 | Chairman & non-executive Director (since Nov 2019), Clearcorp Dealing Systems (India) Ltd Company board |
record | Market-infrastructure vendor chaired by a former deputy governor; demonstrates how post-retirement board seats cluster in regulated financial-market plumbing. |
